Sunflower Temple

My day starts off with the urge to see some Sunflowers.
Armed with a map and a small car, Ian and I navigate through
swamp-like terrain to find patches of these beauties.

We discovered this Tibetan Temple hidden in the woods. The magical things we uncovered:

Finally in Bloom

Every year I visit this place. This year at sunrise, I walk three miles and contemplate; all of these cherry blossoms are similar yet different. I look behind me and crowds of people do the same.

What is it with flowers that fascinate us the most?

Maybe these photos speak of an answer.

We have had such labile weather these past weeks, but somehow the blossoms made it.
Maybe, we are fascinated by resilience.
These fragile blossoms fought their way to bloom.

Maybe, we should too.

In the Depths of Winter

In the middle of winter, I wandered around Colonial Williamsburg in search of perhaps some inspiration. This inspiration (or lack thereof) led me to quiet corners and solitary things.

It was such a stark contrast from the lively town I had expected. The flat light, snowed in paths and empty streets showed me that life is far more out of my control. I was left with the interesting challenge of noticing things that were already there. I came home with the realization that winter undresses everything. It exposes the tree underneath, the tools behind it all and the people who carry on.

Colorful Movement

After a busy work week, there is nothing like investing on something fun.

Last Saturday, my friends and I attended Color in Motion in DC. It was a 5k color run to fundraise for Make a Wish Foundation.

New Eyes

Picture

One of the beautiful things about having people visit is the chance to go back to old places and rediscover familiar places with new eyes.

New York City.
